Hi friendsssss ok so I made my own personal octonauts backgrounds for all the characters and here they are if you guys wanna read them!

Octonauts backgrounds

Tunip and the vegimals- already know for the most part, but not what happened after. What happened afterwards was Shellington having to explain that these creatures he wanted to study and keep them and he quickly became very attached to them as he researched them, he ended up raising them and becoming the vegimals's father figure.

Captain barnacles- Barnacles grew up in North Pole Alaska(?) with his sister Bianca and mom. He did have a dad but he left from a young age. So Bianca and Barnacles barely remember him. But they do remember quite a bit of yelling when he was around. They lived relatively normal lives in the Arctic, as one does. Their mom enrolled the two in polar scouts and had home schooled the two- that's where barnacles learned most of the basic skills he knows today. When he was a bit older his mother passed and it was hard on both of the siblings, especially since they had to find their own materials and resources, one time barnacles had gotten trapped between some ice (not the sac actun scene) and had a bit of a panic attack as he tried to get out but had to wait for his sister. Eventually he got out but this was when he hated asking got help and being seen as weak around this time he met Professor Natquik, who at the time wasn't much older than him. Natquik noticed that Barnacles was struggling so he offered up his help to train him, where barnacles worked himself to the bone to get stronger and never be seen as weak and never need help- at least that was the intention. Natquik noticed this and his determination. It was inspiring but also a bit scary how hard he'd work, natquik encouraging Barnacles and telling him it's okay to ask for help from others and take breaks. Barnacles didn't originally listen so one night while he was training (without natquik) he just passed out due to the sheer amount of stress he had putting on his mental and physical state. Bianca was worried that night that barnacles didn't come home, she went by Natquik's to see if they were together and he wasn't so the two got worried and searched for him, after a while they had found him. He was passed out and didnt look too good. They took him back home and took care of him- when he woke up Natquik had a "I told you so" moment and told him this would happen if he continued this cycle. Barnacles now took it into consideration but he felt so bad the next couple days as he couldn't move and Bianca and Natquik had to take care of him, it felt humiliating and he never wanted to feel like this again. When he was older he had enrolled for college and got in a really good one, saying bye to Natquik and Bianca. It was a big world out there- he wasn't used to so many people since the Arctic wasn't very populated. It had a few stations and places to get things but it wasn't a whole city. At this specific college he met a professor- professor inkling. Where Barnacles would often have after class chats with. They related a lot and one day Inkling had asked Barnacles if he'd be interested in a "side project" he'd been working on for some time, barnacles gladly accepted and became captain of the octonauts with that.

Kwazii- Kwazii was raised in a small household, him, a few siblings, and his parents. As a child he always felt kinda off and they were often seen as "the weird kid." For their ADHD and dyslexia. And not understanding things that might be understood better by neurotypical people. His household wasn't much help with this either as they would just tell him to "suck it up." And that it was "for attention" as the youngest sibling. Kwazii also became attached to the pirate lifestyle after learning who his grandpa was and hyperfixating on the whole topic as a whole and being fascinated. When Kwazii had gotten a little older he had realized why they felt off for so many years other than untreated neurodivergency- Kwazii realized he's trans (ftm) upon discovery they got excited and tried telling their parents. It didn't go too well and he had gotten kicked out as a teenager, having to live on his own and being homeless. It wasn't ideal nor nice but he still kept his interest in pirates and decided to go on and live out a pirate life. He wrote to his grandpa about what had happened and luckily Jack was accepting, and LGBT himself as well. The two didn't talk too much since they both had quite the lives but they still appreciated and wrote to one another when taken the chance to. When Kwazii was a bit older, 19 he had heard about a new group of people called 'the octonauts' and reading the job description and what it would be like, hearing that they'd been recruiting members- Kwazii got quite excited and almost immediately tried to apply. There were loads of other people trying to apply as well but none had really sparked interest of inkling or barnacles. Up until they met Kwazii who seemed to have good heart and good intentions. Although doing a background check, inkling thought it might be risk since Kwazii never finished high school, was homeless and lived a pirate like life-style. But after watching Kwazii from a distance for a few days he ended up getting the job as the lieutenant. Kwazii was the forth member of the crew, the first being inkling, second being Barnacles and third being Tweak. Oh also Kwazii from a young age developed a light sensitivity problem in his right eye which is why he wears an eyepatch and also when he got it as a kid he thought it was dumb but his parents at the time were like "you look just like your grandpa!" And then telling him and that's how and when the fixation started.

Peso- Peso was always a kind hearted person and soul. From a young age he already knew he wanted to be in the medical field. he absolutely hated seeing others hurt and was highly empathetic with pain- emotional or physical. Peso did originally have a dad in his life but he wasn't good at all. His dad would constantly be yelling or arguing or even sometimes causing harm to peso's mom, and often the kids too but the dad would threaten them if they told anyone. it was like this for quite a while up until pinto was born. peso became very timid and shy from these experiences, making it hard for him to make many friends with his developed social anxiety. It was hard talking to people often. And peso would sometimes go for weeks without saying a word due to going non verbal because of stress. Peso's mom didn't know how to break off relations with her husband for such a long time and kept trying to make things work for the sake of her kids. When pinto was born Peso immediately felt this sense of overwhelming protection and understanding of this little baby penguin. When his mom couldn't take care of him, he often would. However in one specific event, Peso's dad became extremely aggressive and causing. A lot of harm to the household. Peso tried to stand up for his mom, which ended in his dad hurting him. Snapping his mom, finally telling the guy off and officially kicking him out and divorcing. Pinto doesn't remember a lot of this since it happened at a very young age. Peso was a teenager when this had happened and him and his siblings eventually ended up telling their mom everything and how he would threaten if they told. She felt furious she didn't know sooner and didn't kick him out sooner. She promised they'd never be hurt again by the guy. Peso finished high school and went onto get into college to get a medical degree. Which he was successful in. He was one of the best and most gentle paramedics. Always treated his patients with kindness, something that his dad never showed to him. He had seen an ad for the octonauts, much like Kwazii and tried to understand what it was about. It took him a while to seriously consider it and get interviewed for it. He almost immediately got hired as the team realized that they'd really need a medic on the crew. He was the fifth member.

Shellington- Shellington was always an incredibly smart person. He knew how to analyze almost every. One thing he wasn't entirely good at was making friends and communicating with people, this was due to him being autistic, he knew how the world worked but not how people worked exactly. It's not that he didn't want friends it's that he didn't understand how to make them. So he was seen as "the quiet smart kid" all throughout his school years. His older sister would look out for him and always encourage him to go out of his way and make some friends but he would always say disagree and just say that "friends would get in the way of my plans" which was just him trying to convince himself that when really he was quite lonely. Whenever he had tried making friends it usually ended poorly and he'd be labeled as weird and ultimately bullied for it. So that was another factor keeping him from making friends was that he was very much bullied throughout the years. Sometimes it would get physical but not often. Usually Pearl would stick up for him when things like these would happen. Although one time when he was 16/17 it got very bad where a group of upperclassmen had beaten him up and tore up his notes. He was very upset about this, picking up his things and basically crying. Someone helped him out though, that someone being Dashi- turns out they went to the same school. Dashi helped him out and eventually became really good friends with him. Pearl was a bit skeptical at first but eventually warmed up to her, good news was- no one liked messing with Dashi at school so Dashi was kinda Shellington's guardian in a way. Dashi also helped Shellington collect and regain his notes after they met. The two remained good friends up until they heard about a new program called "The Octonauts" Shellington had a long special interest in marine biology so he almost immediately applied. For Dashi it took a bit for her but Shellington eventually convinced her to apply too. He was the sixth member. Also around the same age that Shellington got bullied, his mom passed away from cancer and his dad died of a heart attack, so Pearl had to take care of the two of them. It was hard on both of them and Shellington was doing what he could to support them as well as Pearl but it felt like nothing got better so Dashi coming into his life was kinda like a sign of hope.

Dashi- Dashi was born and raised in Australia with her younger sister Koshi, her family happened to be Hawaiian native and due to this she often would take and do cultural practices with her family. It was very personal and important to her growing up. She was also quite the bookworm, specifically mystery stories where she could figure things out, which she ended up sharing with her sister. She was also incredibly smart with technology and quite popular in school. But something always felt kinda off about her from other children her age. She never felt like she fully belonged, one day she had stumbled across a forum for trans kids, being curious she looked at it and what they were describing was exactly how she had felt. Realizing she was trans (mtf) she was a bit nervous but eventually told her sister who immediately accepted her and told her "actually I never really ever saw you as a boy." Which made her extremely happy to find out. Soon telling her parents who had also accepted her and she went out to get some more gender affirming clothes, she started going getting hormone treatments and finally felt like herself. One problem happened to be the school she went to. She would constantly be getting hated on and didn't feel safe, upon telling her parents they didn't want their daughter feeling unsafe so they transferred her to another school where it seemed everyone almost instantly liked her. Also good news was that this school was where she got her love for photography, there was a photography class and she almost immediately loved it. Everyone wanted to be her friend and she was quite popular. It was a bit overwhelming though. It was hard to tell if they genuinely liked her or just wanted to be popular. Even though she was popular and no one messed with her, she didn't really have any real friends. She sometimes would think she would but they were just jerks who liked talking about others behind their backs. They were really toxic and after a while she had to cut them off, this was followed by some bullying and rumor spreading about her. She was tired of being stepped on for her popularity and tired of playing a role to please other people. One day she finally snapped and from that day on no one messed with her ever again. One day while she was out taking photos for class she noticed a boy around her age crying while picking up torn up papers. She was concerned so she helped him. This boy being Shellington who soon became really good friends and she never let anyone pick on him again. And if they did they'd have to go through her first. When the two became a bit older they heard about the octonauts group and while Shellington seemed much more excited than she did she eventually came around and applied which she had gotten the job for after all they really needed a technician. She was the seventh member.

Tweak- tweak originally wasn't an only child, she had many siblings in the evergreens. She also had a mom. But when they were a kid, it was dry season in the evergreens, ranger marsh and tweak were trying to help around with the local creatures. Tweak was very young at the time so marsh just had them do small and simple tasks that weren't too dangerous for her. However when they got home something was, off. Their house was on fire, with all of tweak's siblings and mom inside. Marsh didn't allow tweak to go in but the two of them were crying because they knew that they couldn't go in. Marsh had originally tried but got burnt and it made tweak really upset. Marsh has a burn on his left arm from that. Tweak was super young so it didn't effect them a lot, however it really hurt marsh. Ever since that he became super protective of tweak and tried to be there for her a lot of her life. Tweak was homeschooled up until college where they got into engineering, they always made quick little simple gadgets as a kid but engineering was something they were really interested in so they pursued it in college. After they graduated they became a professional engineer and came up with many ideas for helpful machines. When they heard about the octonauts they were immediately interested to help since that's what all their machines were made for and she wanted to help from preventing what happened to her mom and siblings. They were one of the first octonauts and had invented the idea for the first octopod. Which had failed as it was faulty and her first super big invention. However once she figured out what was wrong with the first one, she got enough time and money funded to make a new one. Same with the octo repair station. They were one of the first members, the third member actually. Inkling being the first and barnacles being the second.

Inkling - inkling much like Shellington was always very smart, but he'd always get caught up in a good book, which would distract him. Inkling did have siblings when he was younger. He never really knew his parents so him and his siblings grew up on their own. They would rely on one another for who's turn it would be to make dinner, etc. he really wanted to become some form of educator even from a young age, he always wanted to pass his knowledge onto others, even though he was self taught for most of his life. When he was able and got the chance he would go to schools even though he'd always be the only octopus in class as the others would always be land creatures. He didn't care he wanted to know and he'd always ask questions that would be wild and out of the box. He was insanely smart and creative, and upon telling his educators that he also wanted to be an educator didn't surprise them too much. When he was older he got into a really good college and eventually graduated, getting his degree and coming back as a professor at one of the best colleges. He was one of the few sea creatures there too. After a while he got a little tired of always teaching the same thing, he wanted something new. One day a student had asked about ocean life which made him realize that not a lot of people knew about the ocean life so he taught about it the entire period. Snd this is where he had gotten inspired and made a little "side project" it was originally just a fun idea but one day a polar bear student came into his class and the two would have long talks after class. The boy inspired him to continue his project with how enthused he seemed and how he had a protective spirit. One day he asked him if he had wanted to help, as to which he got a "yes" as a response and the two worked and worked, recruiting people and seeing who they'd need, etc. until the octonauts were officially formed.

Okkkk I think I'm done. This might change but this is just my personal backgrounds on the characters! Came from my brain hehe. Have a lovely lovely day :]
