Although Nissan has not yet officially revealed its new Z car, the rumor mill has done an excellent job of filling in some of the important gaps. Based on existing information, the new 400Z will actually be called the Nissan Z in North America, it will begin at just $34,995, and it will look almost identical to the Z Proto unveiled last year. Now, a reader who wishes to remain anonymous has sent us three new photos of what is apparently a production Nissan Z being tested in Arizona. The version seen here is finished in silver and has a blue interior, along with an automatic transmission. The Nissan Z will also be offered with a manual gearbox.

Besides some light camo covering the Nissan badges on the front and back, these pictures showcase a fully naked version of the new sports car. It looks indistinguishable from the model spied last month, with the same square front grille, black wheels, and red brake calipers. The roof and mirrors are finished in black as well. It's only inside where things differ, with this latest one getting vivid blue seats as opposed to a more demure black. The lower half of the dashboard and the door inserts are also finished in blue, indicating that Nissan will offer some adventurous color schemes for the cabin, much in the same way that BMW has done for the latest M4.

We may not have to wait long for the official details to emerge. According to a recent post on the New Nissan Z forum, a user who goes by JonnyG indicated that his dealer will offer options and colors on May 23. This is also when the new Z car can be ordered. This date is sooner than we anticipated and indicates a reveal is imminent. If the new Nissan Z does start at $34,995 with its 400-horsepower twin-turbo V6, it would create all sorts of issues for the base Toyota GR Supra which is more expensive and yet only offers four-cylinder power. The Supra 3.0-liter with its more comparable turbo six-pot starts at around the $50k mark.
